Liverpool Set To Sell Raheem Sterling To Manchester City For £49 million

Manchester City have finally had a bid for winger Raheem Sterling accepted by Liverpool after agreeing to cough up £49 million.

The deal is now subject to City agreeing personal terms with Sterling, and a medical.

Manchester City had made two previous bids for Sterling — who had publicly stated that he wanted to leave  — but both bids were rejected.

The transfer, if it goes through, will make Sterling the most expensive English player ever.

Sterling’s contract with Liverpool runs till 2017, but his reluctance to play for the team saw him removed from the club’s squad for their upcoming tour and earned him criticism from former Liverpool players.

“You don’t have to throw in illness, or refuse to go on tour,” LA Galaxy midfielder Steven Gerrard said. “The fans have shown him great support, they want him to stay and I believe that he should too.”
