5 foods that can help you fight depression

There are many reasons for depression, it may be a loss of someone you love (it is okay to grief but then it never should affect your life all together), a loss of job, break up from a long time partner or it could be internal, sometimes the deposition for depression is engraved in ones genetics(inherited).


There are specific foods that are calming, you may say all food are calming because you feel good when you eat any food, well, although some food can be calming just for the moment, but then it calming effect wears off in no time.

Before we look into food that helps us less stressed and less depressed, it is important to know the foods that you just should not be eating, foods that actually dampens your mood and they include:


1.  Green Tea
One necessary way to fight depression is eating, drinking food that are rich sources of antioxidants and the green tea just got that. Also, the green tea contains an amino acid known as theanine and this is basically beneficial to our mood as it makes us more calm and serene.

2. Whole Grain
The health benefits of whole grain can not be overemphasized. The whole grain is indeed a very important diet everyone should take seriously. The whole grain helps to fight depression because it is simply a healthy meal that is rich in high-fibre carbohydrates  which quickly helps to improve mood.

3. Turkey. 
The turkey is a fantastic source of protein to help you fight depression because of the higher level of the chemical called Tryptophan.

4. Walnut
When eaten moderately, the walnut are a very good source of protein but also that which helps to Lessening the symptoms of depression. The reason for this is because the walnuts are one of the richest source of omega-3 fatty acid which helps in overall brain health.

5. Dark Chocolate
We are pretty sure that those with sweet tooth just had a huge smile on there face because of this one, well, the dark chocolate can simply aid the fight against depression as it helps improve your mood. “Dark chocolate helps to release serotonin and relaxes the blood vessels of the cardiovascular system,” says Mandel.
