7 Things You Should Never Fear As A Nigerian Woman

Being a woman is hard work.

This is not to say that being a man is any easier. But women have many things stacked against them. We have so much to worry about women. There are so many uncertainties in life, Nigerian women shouldn’t have to fear any of the following:

1. Being a wife material
Not to sound like a cliche, there is someone for everyone. Someone guy A considers wife material won’t even make it onto guys B and C’s wife material list. Everyone has different likes, dislikes, strengths and weaknesses. You should be yourself and enjoy the journey called life. The right man who will love and respect you is out there.

2. Choosing between a career and a family
Gone are the days when you can only have either a career or a family, never both. These days, you can be both a super mum as well as a boss lady. Don’t give up on your dreams because you want a family especially when you can have the best of both worlds.

3. Changes in their body
Nobody is gonna live forever. Well except some kinds of jellyfish and lobster. That being said, you shouldn’t worry or fear the changes your body undergoes as you get older. Instead of nipping and tucking with the aid of surgery, own your body. Love and flaunt it!

4. Being opinionated
As a rational thinking being, having opinions is as natural as breathing. Having opinions especially strong one is a mark of confidence. You should never be afraid to express your opinions respectfully.

5. Unsure about having children
As strange as it sounds, there are women who do not want to have children. This doesn’t make them any less of a woman. Not every woman wants a child.  Everyone is different and wants different things in life.

6.  Surviving in a male dominated industry
What a man can do, a woman can do better! You have nothing to fear when going into a male dominated field. There are women mechanics, bus drivers and barbers who are making it, your success in your chosen field is dependent on your hard work. You got this!

7.  Being single past 30
In our society, marriage shaming is common. Many women who are single past the age of 30 are insulted and marriage shamed. My dear, it is better to be single than to be in an unhappy or even abusive marriage. Being single is not a crime, don’t let anyone make you feel it is.
