Wenger stunned as pitch invader leaps over hoardings and offers him a pie

Arsene Wenger was left looking rather perplexed after a supporter jumped into his dugout to offer him some food during Arsenal's EFL Cup win over Nottingham Forest.

The fan, clutching a pie in a polystyrene tray, approached Wenger shortly after Granit Xhaka's opening goal at the City Ground.

Clad in an orange coat, navy blue jeans and pristine white adidas trainers, the man donned a quizzical expression on his face as a member of Wenger's backroom staff kept him away from the Gunners boss.

Two members of Forest's response team were quickly on the scene to lead the supporter away, although he clearly wasn't happy at being denied the chance to share a romantic dinner with Arsenal's 66-year-old manager.

Luckily for Wenger, that was as scary as it got on a routine night for him and his players in Nottingham.

The Frenchman made wholesale changes to the side that beat Hull in the Premier League at the weekend, but that didn't matter as his team of youngsters and fringe players recorded a 4-0 win to book the Gunners' place in the last 16.

Granit Xhaka found the back of the net with another long-range effort before Lucas Perez grabbed a brace and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain rounded off the scoring.
