Singer of the popular "Hallelujah" song passes on

The news of his death was shared on his facebook page.

Speaking to Rolling Stone, his son Adam said

"My father passed away peacefully at his home in Los Angeles with the knowledge that he had completed what he felt was one of his greatest record titled 'You Want It Darker'

His first big hit was titled 'So long Marianne' which he wrote for his Norwegian lover Marianne Jensen in 1967.

During a promotional tour ahead of the release of his most recent and final studio album he confessed he was 'ready to die'.

'Maybe I'll get a second wind, I don't know. But I don't dare attach myself to a spiritual strategy. I don't dare do that,' the I'm Your Man singer told the New Yorker. 'I've got some work to do. Take care of business. I am ready to die. I hope it's not too uncomfortable. That's about it for me.' He said
