Popular Nollywood actor who is also a lecturer in the department of theater arts at the Adeniran Ogunsaya College of Education, AOCOED, Afeez Oyetoro, also known as Saka, was one of the lecturers affected by a midnight fire that razed the department’s building. There was no casualty recorded in the fire incident.
“We cannot categorically say what caused the fire incident as investigation is still ongoing,” Mr Oyetoro said.
“But from the information I received, it started at about 2am and the fire service came late. By the time they came, the fire had already done much havoc,” he added.
The building affected housed the Dean of the department’s office, senior lecturers’ offices, audio and visual studio, hall for presentation, costumes, props and others.
Although investigation is still ongoing, Vanguard gathered that the fire incident may have been caused by electrical surge in one of the several offices.
“I was called at 5:30am. By the time we got there, officials of the fire service from Ojo and Badagry divisions were still struggling to put off the fire. By the time they were through, the whole place was in ruins, ” said Dean School of Arts and Social Sciences, Dr. Femi Adedina.
