Nollywood Actress Toyin Aimakhu and Husband Separate

Barely two years after popular Nigerian actress, Toyin Aihmaku, tied the knots with her actor hubby, Niyi Johnson, at the Ikoyi Registry in Lagos, the pair are said to have parted ways.

The news, which filtered in on Saturday, came as a rude shock to fans of the fun-loving couple known for displaying affection for each other on social media.

The question on the lips of many at the moment is what could have gone wrong within three weeks? This is because three weeks ago, Johnson posted picture of him and wife’s with the caption, “It all began here-our first picture to go viral. This year, fight tirelessly until glory is attained, it’s a year of testimony and success will be ours in all spheres. Less I forget vote for Adeniyi Johnson in Maya Awards as the Actor of the year and Alakada as the movie of year. Love you plenty.”


In the same vein, Aihmaku, had also taken to Instagram around the same time, to shower praises on her husband for buying her a pair of shoe and jewelry.

In the midst of the tales of separation trailing the pair, the 31-year- old actress, who produced her first movie titled Alajota in 2005, has yet to issue any statement or address the issue on Saturday.

Efforts by our correspondent to reach the actress were not successful as she did not pick calls made to her phone neither did she respond to the text message sent to her mobile phone.

What could however pass for hints of a crack in the union could be her lengthy post on Instagram on Saturday. It partly read, “I just wonder why people murder people with words, don’t you feel people’s pain and when things happen you write we love, we do RIP painful word. Please don’t murder me with your words. Please if you cant help please don’t make it worse.”

Amidst reports that infidelity played a role in the break up, Johnson, whose Facebook status currently reads, ‘separated’, appears unperturbed, if his recent postings on Instagram are anything to go by.

Currently on a set of a soap opera, the handsome actor has been uploading images of his time at the location on the photo-sharing site, retaining ‘husband’ on his Instagram profile.

Aihmaku has since removed Johnson from her name from her social media accounts just as the couple are said to have both moved out of their apartment in Lekki.

The pair met on the set of Funke Akindele’s movie, entitled Oro Omo, where they were paired as on-screen lovers. Johnson shot into prominence after featuring in the popular soap opera, Tinsel. He proposed to the vivacious actress on New Year eve in 2012, on a ferry, as they made their way from Moji Olaiya’s movie set. Aihmaku, who cut her teeth in acting in 2003, as a Philosophy undergraduate at the Olabisi Onabanjo University, Ago Iwoye, Ogun State, appears to be rather unlucky with love. She has been a victim of quite a number of failed relationships, all of which are known to the public.
