PHOTOS: Top 10 EPL Transfers of 2015


1. Manchester City's '£52m' acquisition of Belgium central midfielder Kevin De Bruyne, 24, from Bundesliga club VfL Wolfsburg was the most expensive piece of business during the 2015 summer transfer window.


2. The Premier League title chasers had already broken their club record transfer fee this summer with the '£49m' purchase of England winger Raheem Sterling, 20, from Liverpool.


3. Manchester United have revealed the identity of Louis van Gaal's 'mystery striker' with the '£36m' signing of electric French striker Anthony Martial, 19, from Ligue 1 team AS Monaco.


4. Passing Sterling on the way into Anfield was Belgium target man Christian Benteke, 24, who was sold by Aston Villa for '£32.5m'.


5. Manchester City used their heavyweight transfer kitty to land 27-year-old commanding centre-back Nicolás Otamendi - who enjoys boxing in his spare time - after La Liga side Valencia accepted a '£32m' offer for the Argentina international.


6. Coming in at number five is Liverpool again, this time with the '£29m' acquisition of Brazil forward Roberto Firmino, 23, from Bundesliga club Hoffenheim.


7. Premier League rivals Tottenham Hotspur hope they have the ideal attacking formula this season after adding South Korea inside forward Son Heung-min, 23, to their front line for '£21.9m' from Bundesliga club Bayer Leverkusen, who are backed by a pharmaceutical firm.


8. At number seven who else could it be other than Chelsea's new no. 17 Pedro? The 28-year-old Spain winger turned down Manchester United to make a '£21.2m' switch from last season's treble winners Barcelona.


9. The Red Devils did manage to bring a World Cup winner to Old Trafford though after decorated Germany central midfielder Bastian Schweinsteiger, 30, put pen to paper on a '£14.4m' transfer from Bundesliga champions Bayern Munich.


10. Newcastle United bought Holland and PSV Eindhoven playmaker Georginio Wijnaldum, 24, for '£14.4m'; the third most expensive signing in the Toon's history.
