Cristiano Ronaldo To Earn More Than Michael Jordan With New Nike Deal

Cristiano Ronaldo set to out earn Michael Jordan with his new Nike deal

It’s been an enormous few days for Ronaldo, as he’s signed mega-contracts with Real Madrid and Nike.

Starting with his club side, Cristiano has agreed to stay with Los Blancos until 2021, at which point he’ll be 36.

The Sunday Times detail that Ronaldo’s new salary with a ‘basic’ wage of €48m per year. However, with “performance-related bonuses on top, he expects to gross more than €50m a year from his new deal.”

However, that’s peanuts compared to the new Nike deal, which could see Ronaldo out-earn NBA heavyweight Michael Jordan.

In an almost unique move, Nike have agreed a “lifetime” partnership with Ronaldo.

He is just the third athlete to sign a lifetime deal with Nike, joining LeBron James and Michael Jordan.

Ronaldo’s new deal with Nike will reportedly pay him $24 million per year for the rest of his life.

At that rate, the deal will reach $1 billion in total value when Ronaldo is 73 years old.

The Sunday Times also report how Nike are hoping Ronaldo will be even bigger than MJ:

The long-term aim of the partnership is to surpass the revenue achieved by Nike from the company’s pioneering lifetime agreement with Michael Jordan.

Both parties believe that football’s greater global popularity, coupled with Ronaldo’s status as the planet’s most followed sportsman on social media, can generate unprecedented sales of Nike products.
