See Top 10 Cities With The Worst Traffic In The World, Lagos Not Included




To most of us Nigerians, Lagos has always been the center for traffic in the country. Residents in Lagos have always complained about the terrible traffic situation that hits them on a daily basis. But in recent research and discovery, it has been stated that Lagos is not even among top ten worst traffic cities in the world.
But as bad as we may think we have it in Lagos, there are several cities around the world which have it twice as bad. Lol...I bet a lot of Lagosian will definitely disagree with this.
Here are the top 10 cities with the worst traffic in the world.

  1. Istanbul, Turkey: Recording an average of 125 hours stuck in traffic every year, Istanbul tops the list as the city with the worst traffic congestion in the world.
  2. Moscow, Russia: Traffic jams in Russia are reportedly so bad that even outside peak hours, commuters still suffer traffic congestion.
  3. Saint Petersburg, Russia: Another Russian city lands on the list of cities with the worst traffic jam. According to CNNmoney, drivers there have to allow for a delay of nearly 29 minutes to their evening commute, and they lose an average of 110 hours waiting in traffic every year.
  4. Mexico City, Mexico: The Mexican capital records huge traffic jams each year with an average 30-minute journey taking 58 minutes during the peak evening times.
  5. Chongqing: Landing the 5th spot on the list, Chongqing an average delay of 25 minutes during the evening rush hour.
  6. Recife, Brazil: An average evening rush hour journey is delayed by over 24 minutes with morning delays bring the number of hours lost behind the wheel to 94 hours each year.
  7. Bucharest, Romania: This city also loses  94 hours stuck in traffic each year.
  8. Rio de Janeiro, Brazil: Although the city's record has improved in the last 2 years, drivers still have to put up with a delay of 24 minutes to their evening commute.
  9. Shenzhen, China: The second Chinese city to make the list, Shenzhen also sees drivers lose substantial amount of time in traffic.
  10. Los Angeles, United States: L.A is the worst U.S. city on TomTom's list of top 100 for rush hour traffic with commuters spending up to 92 extra hours behind the wheel each year due to jams.
