England fan left covered in blood after crowd violence

A bloody fan is given assistance in the stand during the FIFA 2018 World Cup qualifying match between England and Scotland at Wembley Stadium on November 11, 2016 in London, England.

An England fan was left covered in blood following a brawl in the home supporters' section during the World Cup qualifier against Scotland.

Pictures showed two fans coming to blows in England's 3-0 win with one supporter's face left bloodied.

Stewards were on hand quickly to break up the fight and police arrived soon after to isolate the fan who appeared to come off worst.

The unsavoury incident marred what was otherwise an excellent occasion as both sets of supporters impeccably observed the minute's silence on Remembrance Day.

Daniel Sturridge, Adam Lallana and Gary Cahill all scored with headers to boost Gareth Southgate's chances of banking the manager's job full time.

The Three Lions are now two points clear at the top of group F from Slovenia in second and a further two ahead of third-placed Slovakia.

Scotland's hopes, meanwhile, are almost over, as they languish in fifth place six points off the place, with Lithuania, Slovakia and Slovenia all better placed to grab the play-off berth.
